How much IFS should I know?

At this early phase in Refract's journey, we're only inviting people who have some experience with IFS, or who go through our cohort to learn Focusing + IFS + have a session with a human practitioner.

We recommend you:

  1. Know the terminology

  2. Feel you can self-regulate through big emotions coming up alone

  3. Are able to ask questions of your body such that you at least occasionally are surprised by the answer

The IFS experience:

The IFS experience involves:

  1. Discovering & reassuring protector parts

  2. Discovering & reassuring resisting parts

  3. Discovering & unburdening exiles

  4. Choosing new roles for protector parts

We therefore recommend only using Refract if you have theoretical understanding of these steps as a minimum.
